Shaw Brothers marathon starts Saturday June 11th!

Hello readers!

I know some of you are wondering when exactly the Shaw Brothers marathon shall occur. About a month ago the results of a poll questions clearly showed that the readers of Between the Seats have an interest in the famous studio from China that brought to the world martial arts and combat films.

Shaw Brothers studio produced literally hundreds upon hundreds of movies back in the day, so time was needed to determine, first, which ones looked interesting, and second, which ones were easily accessible, all things considered. After a few weeks of investigating, I have finally compiled a list of films for the marathon. Better still, writing for the first review (1966's Come Drink With Me) is already under way and should be published tomorrow.

Below is the list of targeted films for the Shaw Brothers marathon. For some reason, 1978 was a crazy year for the Shaw Brothers studio:

Come Drink With Me (1966)
The One-Armed Swordsman (1967)
Have Sword Will Travel (1969)
Vengeance is a Golden Blade (1969)
The Wandering Swordsman (1969)
King Boxer (1972)
The Water Margin (1972)
The Five Deadly Venoms (1978)
Shaolin Mantis (1978)
The 36th Chamber of the Shaolin (1978)
Return of the Five Deadly Venoms aka Crippled Avengers (1978)
Heroes of the East (1978)
My Young Auntie (1981)

If anybody has more suggestions, please feel free to share them in the comments section below. However, given the significant amount of movies already chosen, the suggestions, while I shall gladly watch them, may be relegated to the briefer 'Capsule Reviews' column.
